This years lambing has been a long drawn out affair. We added to our flock of Portland sheep in the summer, bringing in new ewes and a tup, “Colin” in whom we have a half share with Thornilee Rare Breeds down in the borders. (www.thornileecottage.co.uk)
So this year we had 8 ewes in total, of which 7 produced lambs. 5 tup lambs and 2 ewe lambs – not quite what we were looking for!! The last of them was born two days ago, whilst the first (called Bernaard), is now over 3 weeks old!
But now the Barn is empty of sheep and lambs, and we look forward to gathering everyone back in again in 3 weeks time for shearing!
